If your child is unwell before coming to school
If your child becomes unwell with symptoms of Coronavirus only, such as a:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
The government’s guidance states that you only need to be displaying ONE of the symptoms before you are required to follow these next steps:
If the result comes back positive over the weekend or during out of school hours, you must email school@bansteadinfant.co.uk and head@bansteadinfant.co.uk
If your child has any vomiting or diarrhoea, they must be kept off school for 72 hours. During this period, if your child develops additional symptoms which have been stated above, then please continue to keep your child off school, inform the office and apply for a Coronavirus test. If your child does NOT develop any additional covid like symptoms, they may return to school after the 72 hours.
Any other illness please inform the school as normal.
