Home School Agreement

Your child learns best and achieves more when home and school are working closely together.

The Home-School Agreement spells out the responsibilities of the school, your responsibilities as parents and what the school expects of the children.

We have a written agreement that you, as parents, are asked to sign to show that you understand and accept it.

The aim of the school is to create a happy, caring and stimulating environment for all children, where they have equal opportunities to be taught all the subjects of the national curriculum. We believe in the potential of every child so all the children are given the opportunity to develop the capacity to surprise themselves and those around them. They are taught to challenge themselves to build confidence and resilience. We welcome and encourage parents’ interest and involvement in school life.  We value each child as an individual.

The School will:

• Provide a safe, well-ordered, caring environment in which learning can take place;
• Plan and provide challenging programmes of learning in line with the national curriculum and suitable to the needs of your child;
• Contact parents if there is a problem with attendance or punctuality;
• Let parents know about any concerns or problems that affect their child’s learning or behaviour;
• Set home learning for the child to complete  with parents’ support;
• Provide an appropriate range of books for parents to support their child’s reading development;
• Provide information to parents on the progress made by their child, arrange parent/teacher meetings to discuss this, and welcome contact from parents;
• Keep parents informed about school activities through regular letters home, newsletters and notices about special events.

The Parents will:

• See that my child attends school regularly, on time, in the correct school uniform and properly equipped;
• Let the school know about any concerns or problems that might affect my child’s learning or behaviour;
• Support my child with learning at home and read regularly;
• Attend parent consultations and discussions about my child’s progress;
• Get to know about my child’s life in school;
• Help my child to sustain effort and achievement;
• Support the school’s policies and guidelines for behaviour;
• Support school policies on the acceptable use of IT and ensure that my child’s use of the Internet is monitored outside school;
• Act as a positive role model by using social media responsibly e.g. by not sharing photographs or videos of children or staff taken on school premises ;
• Support the school’s ethos and the role of the teacher.
